Lesley Fleming – Star of Shooting nomination

Lesley Fleming has been nominated by Angela Dodd.

Lesley runs the Scottish Ladies Shooting Club and despite the vast area of coverage and sparse population to draw from, she has built a fantastic community and network of Scottish ladies from the top to the bottom of Scotland. There is even a recent addition from the north of England!

The club has a significant core of regular shooters who attend her meticulously organised monthly club shoots at various clay grounds around the central belt. These events are focused on encouraging and improving shooting for ladies at all levels. Lesley keeps track of members’ progress and ensures we are grouped according to ability, which enables us to support and push each other on in our shooting within a friendly environment.

Lesley organises the events in great detail, even providing cakes for those with special dietary needs and ensuring we car-share where possible to cut down on unnecessary travel!

Through Lesley the SLSC has also introduced ladies to game shooting at our annual shoot and offers three simulated game days per year. Lesley also ensures we are aware of and participate, where possible, in special events such as the Scottish Game Fair, other charity shoots or BASC events.

I feel Lesley deserves recognition for the tireless work she does in organising the fantastic events for the club and the relationships she has forged with the shooting grounds and club members, which ensure the club continues to go from strength to strength.
