On the 12th May the Romney Marsh Association for Shooting and Conservation held an event for Young Shots on the Bilsington Priory Estate. The aim of the event was to introduce the youngsters to a number of field sports including clay pigeon shooting, air rifle shooting and fishing. The 15 Young Shots who attended the event were also treated to demonstrations from RMASC members on ferreting and gun dog training and one of the highlights of the day was the arrival of hounds from the East Kent Hunt. Both the children and some of the adults, who attended with them, came away with a much better understanding of country sports.
The event was a huge success and RMASC are grateful for the support offered by its members who helped out on the day, BASC who provided goodie bags for the youngsters to take away at the end of the day and the local country store. They would also like to thank the local Firearms Officer who arranged for Section 11 consent to be granted in record time and of course the Bilsington Priory Estate. RMASC are happy to pass on the benefit of their experience to any other organisations who might be thinking about putting on a similar event.
