At the end of March, BASC south east attended their first major game fair of 2012. The Kent Game and Equine festival was a successful event for BASC. With unseasonably warm weather on the first day, visitors were understandably keen to make the most of the outside attractions which included the BASC shotgun coaching line and the second event of the 2012 Chudleys/BASC gundog scurry league. Both attractions proved to be extremely popular, with over 450 scurry runs over the two day show. On the main stand members of the South East Team were kept busy speaking to both existing and potential new members. Cornish Countryman, Chris Green, joined the main stand, providing his impressive display of pigeon shooting equipment and DVDs. Also on stand were gunsmith Alan Wey with his custom sporting rifles along with members of the regions largest wildfowling club, Kent Wildfowling and Conservation Association. To add to our indoor attractions, BASC also provided shooting coaching with the ST-2 simulator and provided game butchery and cookery demonstrations in the BASC Taste of Game Theatre. Visitors to the theatre were treated to a butchery demonstration by Julien Pursglove, Master Butcher from Sainsburys and cookery demonstrations from Chef Neil Scott of the Globe and Rainbow restaurant near Kilndown in East Sussex. Visitors on the Sunday afternoon were also treated to a cookery demonstration by the South East Team’s very own ‘masterchefs’ Dan Reynolds and Sam Edwards. The South East Team would like to express their thanks to the army of volunteers who helped to make the event a success.
