BASC’s England director, Dan Reynolds, appeared on BBC Radio Kent this morning to discuss and promote the upcoming start of the pheasant shooting season.

Speaking about the conservation and economic benefits of shooting, Dan closed down the emotive argument used by the opposition and focused on the known evidence. Shooting is worth over £2 billion to the UK economy every year, that equates to £370 million in the South East region.
It plays a significant role in our countryside, helping to support rural economies and rural businesses. In addition, shooting provides £250 million to conservation efforts aiding many of the UK’s most endangered farmland species.
The League Against Cruel Sports’ Chris Luffingham was unable to respond when asked for figures on the alternatives to shooting.
