There will be more opportunities for young people in Wales to try shooting sports and learn more about other countryside activities this spring.
The British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC) is holding two Young Shots’ activity days in April and May. Both days will include sessions of clay target shooting instruction, air rifles, falconry and gamekeeping as well as a gundog handling demonstration.
The first event will take place on Wednesday 2 April at the Holland Arms Shooting Ground, which is located on the B5113 Colwyn Bay/Llanrwst road, opposite the Holland Arms Inn. The following month, on Saturday 3 May, a Young Shots’ activity day will be held at Ffynonwen Country Pursuits, Aberporth near Cardigan. Places are limited on both days so please contact BASC Wales for an application form.
BASC Wales is also holding a Young Shots improvers’ day on Saturday 19 April and the venue is the Mid-Wales Shooting Centre, Trefeglwys in Montgomeryshire. The day will include instruction on shooting safety, shotguns and cartridges, shooting law, gun fit and handling, patterning and range judging. There will also be sessions of shooting instruction with BASC coaches and a team flush competition.
All of those wishing to take part in the improvers’ day only must already be a BASC Young Shot member and have attended at least one previous Young Shots’ activity day.
