There will be a whiff of the military in the air at this year’s BASC Wales and Borders Game and Country Fair at Usk, Monmouthshire on 7-8 June.
The Light Cavalry of the Honourable Artillery Company will be presenting their mounted ‘skill at arms display’ which consists of demonstrating the use of lance and sword and a tent-pegging competition.
BASC director for Wales, Glynn Cook, said: “The main and mini arenas will also feature continuous displays of falconry, gundogs, ferreting, hounds and fly-casting and lots more to keep everyone entertained. Hands-on opportunities are also plentiful with clay shooting instruction, muzzle-loaders, air rifles and archery, plus a wide range of quality trade stands.”
The site is easily reached just off the A449 between Newport and Monmouth. The show is open between 10am to 6pm on both days. Entry on the gate is £9 for adults, £4 for children with under-fives free. Car parking is also free.
