BASC, the largest shooting association in Wales, has launched a unique campaigning website for the Welsh Assembly elections to be held on Thursday 5th May this year. The website equips all those with an interest in shooting to identify their candidates and email them seeking their views on shooting and conservation. The position of candidates can be recorded on the site so that voters know where their candidates stand.
The website can be accessed here.
Gary Ashton, Director BASC Wales, said: “Shooting makes a major contribution of £75 million to the Welsh economy each year and to the management of rural land in Wales. 76,000 people in Wales shoot and shooting supports the equivalent of 2,400 full-time jobs in Wales.
“BASC wants to inform and educate candidates who may not know much about shooting and we also want to work with all Assembly Members. BASC is an all-party organisation but that doesn’t mean we’re not interested in politics . We want everyone who cares about shooting and conservation to use this site to find out what candidates think about shooting and if they’re prepared to take an interest if they are elected.”
