There are two great opportunities for people in Devon and Cornwall to get involved with National Taste of Game Week (14-21 November) this year.
A ‘Celebration of Game & Gamekeeping Evening’ will be held at the Sportsman Gun Centre in Exeter on 18 November. People can enjoy a taste of game while browsing for a new gun or shooting accessory.
The South West’s Olympic shots and 2012 hopefuls will be shooting against two local game shots on the Marksman shooting simulator in the ‘Sportsman’s Challenge’. The competitors will fight it out over a 50-bird sporting clay layout and on the virtual grouse moors of Yorkshire. There will also be a chance for visitors to have their shooting analysed on the Marksman system.
BASC will be joined on the evening by guests including David Bright Seed Specialists, Marsden Game Feed, Chris Green, Chudleys, Gaymers Cider, Musto, Steyr, Beretta, Browning and Train 4 Game. The store will be open as usual with the BASC roadshow beginning at 6.30pm. Entry is free.
There will also be a ‘Taste of Game’ event at the Cornwall Farmers Roadshow in Wadebridge on 12 November. There will be plenty of game tasters to try as well as the Marksman shooting simulator, BASC member discounts and a prize draw. Entry is free.
National Taste of Game Week is part of the Game’s On campaign from the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC) who are leading the way in promoting game meat with this unique initiative.
