People are invited to take part in a range of countryside activities at a family open day in Devon. The BASC-affiliated Devon Wildfowling & Conservation Association (DWCA) will host the event on Sunday 5th September in the grounds of Escot House, Ottery St Mary.
People can have a go at clay pigeon shooting with BASC-accredited shotgun coaches, have a go at a 50 bird sporting layout, try out air rifle shooting with the innovative Sharpshooter simulated airgun target system and learn the art of hide building and decoying. There will be a big bore gun demonstration plus gundog competitions and displays. Local skilled craftsmen and women including blacksmiths, wood-turners and hurdle-makers will be at the event and there will be a variety of fieldsports and country supply stalls.
Jamie Stewart, BASC’s South West regional director, said: “With something for everyone this looks to be an exciting day out for all the family.”

Equally I am very pleased to say Jamie Stewart, BASC South West director, has helped plan and provide practical and educational activities for the day.”
Entry to the open day, which will run from 10am until 4pm, is free. Escot Gardens and restaurant will be open to the public as usual.
