A new regional officer for the south west of England has been appointed by the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC).
James Green from Cornwall will initially be working out of BASC’s south west regional centre near Taunton but may eventually be based in Cornwall. James, who is a keen wildfowler, pigeon shooter and fisherman, is the son of the ‘Ultimate Countryman’ Chris Green.
James said: “I attended some of BASC’s very first young shots courses where I actually shot my first rabbit, so you could say I’ve grown up with BASC. At 18 I started helping BASC as I felt it was time to start giving something back to the shooting community by doing demonstrations at country shows and I’ve also been teaching at young shot events. I’m a carpenter by trade but I’m excited to be moving to a field I feel I can really succeed in being such a keen countryman.”
Regional director for the south west, Jamie Stewart, said: “I’m delighted with the appointment. James brings a wealth of practical experience and youthful enthusiasm, a rare combination. I am sure that members, old and new, will benefit from meeting him over the coming months. Log on to the South West diary pages for an event in your area to come along and say hello.”
