Food lovers in the south east of England will be able to sample some of the region’s tastiest game food at special events this month.
Restaurants and pubs across the region have organised events and promotions to celebrate National Taste of Game Week (14-21 November).
OXFORDSHIRE: Common Leys Farm & Restaurant in Worminghall will be offering diners a complementary standard glass of house wine with every two/three course game dinner ordered between 16-21 November while The Red Lion at Steeple Aston will be offering a complementary 500ml bottle of Hook Norton Ale with every order for game pie between 14-21 November.
BERKSHIRE: Mike Robinson’s Game & Wild Food Cookery School is running an Advanced Game Cookery Course on 14 November. The course is tailored for those with a good knowledge of in the field advanced butchery skills and the techniques to take your food from field to table.
HAMPSHIRE: Blackmoor Game will be on hand at the farmers markets at Southsea and Andover (15 November) and Winchester Farmers Market (19 November) for people to stock up on game meat.
EAST SUSSEX: The Kings Head in East Hoathly will be featuring a delicious menu of game dishes all week for people to come and try.
National Taste of Game Week is part of the Game’s On campaign from the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC) who are leading the way in promoting game meat with this unique initiative.
Jenni Thompson from BASC South East said: “We are delighted to be working with local restaurants, hotels and pubs to promote the eating of our wonderful seasonal harvest.”
