Young Shots have been improving their shooting skills at a special event in East Sussex this month.
The simulated game shoot was organised by the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC) and the Primrose Shoot to show young people what they can expect from a real shoot day.
BASC shotgun coaches Robin Dunkley and John Farley set up a challenging clay shoot in order to simulate what happens on a live game shoot. The young shots also enjoyed demonstrations of deer stalking and gundog handling.
BASC’s regional officer for the south east, Jenni Thompson, said: “We were able to offer the Young Shots some challenging shooting including the use of orange clays which they were told not to shoot as they represented protected species. The young people shot very well and adding the orange clay rule into the shoot day taught them about the importance of quarry identification.”
