BASC South East held a gundog evening on 7th December 2014. The event which was held at Stockbury Village Hall, Nr Sittingbourne, Kent was sponsored by ‘Chudleys’ dog food.
Despite being a cold and dark December evening, the event was very well attended with everyone enjoying listening to views and presentations from the guest speakers.
Qualified vet, Vicky Payne, who writes regularly for ‘Sporting Shooter’ magazine started the evening with a very informative talk on ‘first aid in the field’ for canines. Following a short break for refreshments, the evening then resumed with a ‘Q&A’ session. A wide range of questions were put to our panel of experts which included ‘A’ panel field trial judges, and ‘Sporting Gun’ magazines gundog training expert, Tony Price (Tawnyhill Gundogs). Topics raised included health testing and breeding, along with a whole host of other training based questions.
Following a second presentation by Vicky Payne on ‘Diet and Nutritional’ needs for working dogs, the evening eventually concluded at around 10:30pm with a raffle draw. Prizes included three picking up packs which comprised of a game bag, boot bag, BASC tie, BASC badge, dummy, slip lead, acme whistle and various codes of practice. The main prize was a ‘Turner Richards’ dummy launcher and extension.
Our sincere thanks must go to all who assisted on the night including Mr Tony Price, Mrs Vicky Payne, Mrs Wendy Night, Mr Steve Jones, and the ‘Kent Working Spaniel Club’. We would particularly like to thank those members of the audience who have since contacted the regional office to say how much they enjoyed the event.
