TV chef Mike Robinson has been elected to BASC council at the Association’s AGM on Saturday 14 June.
Mike, who fronts BASC’s Game’s On campaign, said: “I am delighted to have been elected to BASC Council. My passion is food and I know that from my position as an elected member of Council, I will be able to promote game as a nutritious, healthy and local food source with even greater vigour and commitment.”
Robert Irvine and Ray Walters were re-elected to Council for a second term while John Dryden, the former regional director for BASC in the south west, was elected for the first time. At a Council meeting following the AGM Robert Irvine was re-elected as Chairman with Mike Sherman elected as vice-chairman.
BASC president The Earl of Home chaired the AGM as well as presenting awards to members and those who have made significant contributions to sporting shooting.
The Stanley Duncan Conservation trophy was awarded to Noel Hulmston who runs a wild bird shoot in North Wales. Noel has developed a demonstration shoot for farm walks to demonstrate the benefits of shooting to conservation. The shoot is a prime example of how nature and shooting co-exist.
The Ian Richardson Trophy was awarded to Russell and Edna Southward for their support of the BASC Northern team over the last 20 years. Special presentations were also awarded to James Cropper for his support of BASC’s fundraising efforts; Assistant Chief Constable for Dorset Police, Adrian Whiting for his contribution to firearms licensing; Brian Hulse for his work with the Frodsham & District Wildfowlers Club over the last 20 years; Liz Hampton for her 16 years service as Treasurer for the Hull & East Riding Wildfowlers Association; and Mike Newman of the Heacham and North West Norfolk District Wildfowlers’ Association for his efforts in promoting wildfowling to young people and the general public.
Honorary life memberships were awarded to BASC shotgun coach Stewart Ogden and David Stretton.
