People will have a chance to try a taste of game at Burton-on-Trent’s National Brewery Centre. The UK’s largest shooting organisation, the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC), will host a game and ale tasting evening at the centre on Saturday 6th November. Guests will also be able to have a go on a state of the art shooting simulator.
The event is being held as part of BASC’s National Taste of Game Fortnight, which will run from 6th–20th November. National Taste of Game Fortnight is part of BASC’s Game’s On initiative which highlights the benefits of game meat as a local, wild and nutritious food and encourages people to enjoy eating game. BASC has teamed up with chefs from the centre’s Brewery Tap bar and restaurant to celebrate the traditions of game cookery and real ale brewing.
Steve Bloomfield, BASC’s Midlands regional director, said: “The evening will start with a guided tour of the centre during which guests will be able to sample some of the ales produced in its micro-brewery. Following a tour and beer tasting, guests will be treated to a three course game menu designed by the Brewery Tap’s head chef using local seasonal game and produce.”
Tickets cost £30 per person. For further information and tickets contact BASC’s Midland regional centre on 01889 565050. Forms are available to download here. For more details about National Taste of Game Fortnight and Game’s On and a range of game recipes, click here.
