A south Cheshire country pub is holding a week-long celebration of game dishes. Chefs at the Michelin Guide-listed Bull at Shocklach, near Malpas have put together a dedicated menu to mark National Taste of Game Week (14-21 November).

A variety of starters and main courses will be on offer during the week including duck, partridge, pheasant and rabbit together with a speciality gamekeeper’s pie.

Bull licensee, Jon Cox, said: “Imaginatively prepared game dishes have a lot to offer and our chefs are always keen to explore new menus. So this special week was a perfect opportunity for them to put their skills to use on game. This is something different for the autumn evenings and we hope our customers will enjoy the opportunity.”

Jon and his wife Lindsay reopened the fire ravaged and abandoned village hostelry in December 2007 following a major investment. Since then the Bull has won listings in the Michelin Guide 2009, the Good Pub Guide and the Sawdays Pubs and Inns Guide. It is also featured on the Taste Cheshire Food Trail, while recently the Camra (Campaign for Real Ale) Good Beer Guide 2010 recognised the popular village pub for keeping a range of five hand-pulled cask ales.
