BASC’s membership numbers hit record high

The British Association for Shooting and Conservation’s membership numbers reached a record high during December. The number of individual members passed the 130,000 mark.

During the course of 2008, despite the credit crunch, the recruitment of new members has exceeded expectations.

BASC chief executive, John Swift, said: “BASC membership has continued to rise steadily which we believe is testament to the strength of an association that fields a wide range of expert specialist skills to respond constructively and with real force to public events for the benefit of all shooters.”

The exact figure at 11am on 17 December was 130,023.
