The British Association for Shooting and Conservation has announced plans for a state of the art centenary Communications centre to boost its promotion and defence of shooting sports. The building will form the focus of BASC’s centenary fundraising appeal.
The two storey building will contain remote TV filming facilities including a soundproofed studio, a fully equipped design studio and video-conferencing facilities. It will form an extension to BASC’s headquarters at Marford Mill. Planning permission for the new Communications centre has just been approved by Wrexham Council. Construction will begin later this year.
Chief Executive John Swift said: “If the last hundred years have been about preserving the sport in the face of major challenges the coming century will be about promoting shooting through state of the art communications. Shooting sports have to remain at the forefront of these changes, and BASC believes that facilities offered by the new Communications Centre will allow it to meet the challenge.”
Head of Fundraising Nick Glazebrook said “Now comes the challenge to fund the project, and this will be central to our Centenary appeal.”
