BASC takes shooting and conservation to the heart of Europe

BASC’s Green Shoots conservation project has been highlighted at a major event in in Brussels.

Ian Danby Head of biodiversity projects for BASC, was one of the guest speakers at the European Commission during the “Promoting Natura 2000 & sustainable wildlife use” conference.

Ian spoke to delegates about how UK shooters are creating and managing habitat for wildlife and helping to improve the range of animals and plants found in the UK.

Ian said: “Information from BASC’s Green Shoots initiative showed how the shooting community bridges the gap between theoretical targets and what action actually takes place on the ground. Our range of targeted conservation projects achieves the results that are needed and the by-product of this is increased understanding and support for shooting sports.”
