The British Association for Shooting and Conservation is saddened to learn of the tragic deaths of two members during a shooting expedition in adverse weather conditions.
Police have recovered the body of 42 year old Philip Surridge (pictured) from Brightwell Lake near Ringstead in Northamptonshire and are continuing to search for that of 30 year-old Paul Litchfield.
It is thought the two men fell into the frozen lake after one of them attempted to rescue the gundog which was with them. The dog and equipment belonging to the two men have been recovered at the scene.
BASC Chief Executive John Swift said “All BASC staff and members will be deeply saddened to learn of this terrible accident. We would like to extend our heartfelt sympathies and thoughts to the men’s families.”
