A new shooting lease for coastal wildfowling in North West Wales has been secured for three years with help from the UK’s largest shooting organisation, the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC).
Y Foryd Wildfowling and Conservation Association successfully applied for a new sporting rights lease on 96.4 acres (39 hectares) of Crown Estate foreshore on the Pontllyfni Coast in Gwynned.
The club is an existing tenant of the Crown Estate. It has held a sporting rights lease at Y Foryd Bay since 1992 and sought the new lease to extend wildfowling to the foreshore near Pontllyfni.
Mark Greenhough, BASC’s wildfowling officer, said: “I am delighted that new areas of shooting have been opened up to BASC members for wildfowling through the work of the club and the BASC wildfowling team.”
Emrys Heard, chairman of Y Foryd Wildfowlers, said: “With the new lease we hope to strengthen, promote and secure wildfowling in the area for the future. We are indebted to the BASC wildfowling team for their expertise in assisting us to acquire the sporting rights to this area.”
Anyone interested in trying wildfowling through the BASC Wildfowling Permit Scheme can email their name and address to wildfowling@0ld.basc.org.uk. Details of the scheme and participating clubs can be found on the BASC website www.0ld.basc.org.uk
