New shooting groups for women set up to meet demand in Devon and Somerset

Two new shooting groups catering exclusively for women are being formed in Devon and Somerset. The move will expand on the success of the Devon and Somerset ladies’ shooting group which has seen a significant rise in demand since its formation in 2010.

The Devon ladies will meet at Ashcombe Shooting Ground near Exeter and Somerset ladies will continue to meet at Mendip Wells.  All abilities are welcome at both groups where monthly training days are arranged and the members learn various shooting techniques from coaches, followed by lunch.

The two groups will continue to share events and competitions. Devon ladies run a social calendar which includes clay shooting, gundog training days, live game days, competitions and summer events.

Annette Cole, Senior Manager, Country Sports South West said: “It is great to see the growth in the number of ladies who shoot in both Devon and Somerset. Country Sports South West encourages participants in the South West to join a members’ group wherever possible. Groups provide support and social events but most importantly they offer the opportunity to learn good shooting practice from coaches accredited by the UK’s largest shooting organisation, the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC).”
