2013 Wildlife Habitat Conservation Stamp launch

The Wildlife Habitat Trust’s 2013 Wildlife Habitat Conservation Stamp, “Tufted Duck on Rockland Broad” by artist Jonathan Pomroy will be launched by Jules Hudson of BBC’s Countryfile and Escape to the Country at the CLA Game Fair, Ragley Hall on the WHT/BASC stand at 11.30 a.m. on Friday 19th July 2013.

The 2013 design is the twenty-third in the series. Jonathan Pomroy is one of the country’s foremost wildlife artists. His interest in natural history started at an early age when he used to work at the Slimbridge wildfowl reserve in his school holidays.

Talking about the stamp artwork “Tufted Duck on Rockland Broad” Jonathan said: “I spent a good couple of hours on the water getting close to the birds and talking to the wildfowlers and it made me realise how much we had in common. I try to spend as much time in the field as I can. I go a lot to Castle Howard in Yorkshire, painting goldeneye and pintail. I love my work, it’s a very enjoyable thing to do.”

Jonathan Pomroy will be at the CLA Game Fair to discuss his work, alongside members of the Rockland Wildfowlers’ Association who will be able to provide information about Rockland Broad and their recent loan from the Wildlife Habitat Trust plus the work which led to them receiving the BASC Stanley Duncan Conservation trophy for 2013.

Visitors to the WHT stand will be able to buy stamps, badges, limited-edition prints and original work from a range of artists.

The launch is supported by Tanners Wines of Shrewsbury.
