The wildfowling warden for the south shore of the Upper Humber was presented with a new telescope at the BASC roadshow in Doncaster last week.
The Optricron Scope, which was supplied by Lamberts of Lancaster, was specifically chosen to assist in bird observations on the estuary. Wardening on both shores is undertaken with funding by Natural England and ensures bird numbers are monitored, poaching is controlled and a sustainable level of wildfowling continues on this important site.
BASC’s director in the north of England, Phil Pugh, said: “We are most grateful to Andrew Ireland of Lamberts of Lancaster for supplying this scope which will ensure accurate bird counts and observations continue. The Upper Humber Wildfowling Committee funded the purchase as part of this ongoing commitment to wildfowling on this site.”
