World champions to entertain crowds at NI Game Fair with pipes and drums

Two cousins, who play with some of the best pipe bands in the world, will be entertaining the crowds at the BASC Northern Ireland Game Fair on 2-3 May at Ballywalter Park, County Down.

Mark Wilson and Lee Lawson, who are originally from Co. Down, play with two of the world’s best pipe bands, namely Field Marshal Montgomery and The Vale of Athol Pipe Band. Between them they have won over 55 Championships including 14 World Championships and nine ‘Champion of Champions’ titles.

Lee is a percussion teacher for Argyll & Bute Council in Scotland. Mark is a former director of the Northern Ireland Piping & Drumming School and is a full time professional drummer and percussionist with some of Ireland’s leading international artists and shows.

Mark has also been involved in writing the music for a new Scottish and Irish Dance Show called, ‘The Planter and the Gael.’ They have recorded, toured and performed with artists such as Phil Coulter, Brian Kennedy, Van Morrison, Celtic Thunder and the Ulster Orchestra.
