Northern Ireland Game Fair 2009

The 2009 BASC Northern Ireland Game Fair was a major success despite the extraordinary 40mm of rain that fell during the previous week. We are grateful to Lord Dunleath and the Estate team who strove to overcome the effects of this deluge.

The fair saw excellent competitions for shooting and gundogs, a great new fishing village, equestrian activities and a full main arena programme.

Clubs rose to the challenge of organising events, and huge crowds came to celebrate all that is best in the countryside. Ballycranmore and Kircubbin Clay Target Association organised an outstanding clay shoot with major sponsorship from Northern Ireland’s premier adventure centre, Field of Dreams, and Donal McCloy of Guns Unlimited.

Other sponsorships from Peninsula Veterinary Clinic, Sporting Saint and Chudley’s let the Ulster Gundog League, the Antrim and Down Springer Spaniel Club and the National Lurcher and Racing Club all stage superb competitions. We are also indebted to Johnston and Gilpin who provided the John Deere Gators – the only vehicles capable of dealing with some of the appalling conditions experienced in the set-up period!

The sponsors, clubs and volunteers who support the Game Fair are greatly appreciated by BASC and we would like to record our sincere appreciation of their efforts and support.
