The British Association for Shooting & Conservation (BASC) and Greenmount Campus CAFRE in County Antrim have teamed up to launch the Greenmount Country Sports Club.
This autumn members of the Club will learn about all aspects of sporting shooting. Thanks to BASC, members will have the opportunity to find out about firearms and wildlife law, safe gun handling and will experience clay target shooting under the instruction of BASC accredited shotgun coaches.
The Club will also visit a working estate where they will get a chance to experience a day-in-the life of a gamekeeper plus have an opportunity to discuss the role of shooting in the countryside.
There will also be a session using BASC’s Marksman ST-2 system, the world’s most advanced shooting simulator. This will allow club members to further develop their shooting skills with both rifle and shotgun in a classroom environment under the guidance of BASC’s coaching staff.
The 2009 programme will culminate with club members taking their BASC Safe Shot assessment, an award that recognises knowledge of shooting safety and safe gun handling which is an essential skill for farmers and landowners to develop. Future club shooting events are already being planned for 2010.
