There are only a few remaining spaces available on a Deer Stalking Certificate 1 Course (DSC1) being run by the BASC NI team over the bank holiday weekend in August.
The course will be held at the Baronscourt Estate, Newtownstewart in County Tyrone from Friday 26th to Monday 29th of August.
BASC Northern Ireland director Tommy Mayne said: “The DSC 1 course is aimed at those who wish to learn the basics in relation to deer ecology, habitat and deer legislation across the UK. The course also teaches the safe handling of deer calibre rifles and includes a safety assessment and a shooting assessment.”
Oliver McCullough, member of BASC Council and chair of BASC’s Northern Ireland committee, said: “The Estate is a fantastic setting for this well-established course and students will not only be able to see first-hand the excellent on site facilities, they will also be able to view the topography of the Estate and meet with the Estate’s experienced deer stalking guides. Baronscourt Estate is also home to the BASC deer stalking scheme which is the only scheme of its kind in Northern Ireland.
The course costs £290, which includes the Deer Management Qualification manual, and the assessment fees.
