BASC launches Northern Ireland Assembly Election Website

NIAEBASC has launched a unique campaigning website for the Northern Ireland Assembly elections to be held on Thursday 5th May this year. The website allows all those with an interest in shooting to identify their candidates and email them to seek their views on shooting and conservation. The position of candidates will be recorded on the website so that shooters know where their candidates stand.

The website can be accessed here.

Tommy Mayne, Director BASC Northern Ireland, said: “Shooting makes a major contribution of £28 million to the Northern Ireland economy each year and to the management of rural land in NI. There are roughly 60,000 firearm certificate holders in Northern Ireland. Shooting supports the equivalent of 770 full-time jobs in Northern Ireland.

“BASC wants to inform and educate candidates who may not know much about shooting and we also want to continue our work with members of the Northern Ireland Assembly. BASC is an all-party organisation but that doesn’t mean we’re not interested in politics . We want everyone who cares about shooting and conservation to use this site to find out what their prospective MLAs think about shooting and whether or not they will support shooting if they are elected.
