BASC has selected the winner and runner-up for its #twelfie photo competition.

Damian Smith from Cheshire was awarded first place for his photograph ‘Monty’s Final Drive’. He won a grouse jacket worth almost £700 from James Purdey & Sons.

The runner up was field and motorsports photographer Tony Raine with his entry ‘On the Lookout’. His prize was 500 Eley Zenith cartridges.

BASC North regional director Duncan Thomas said: “I’ve been involved with all of BASC’s recent photo competitions, and I always enjoy seeing all the entries. Congratulations to Damian and Tony on their winning submissions. They’re truly exceptional photographers who’ve really earned their prizes.”

BASC Chairman Peter Glenser said: “This photo competition is ultimately a celebration of grouse shooting. We saw many different sides of the season through the pictures that were submitted, and hopefully introduced a few people to the beauty of the UK’s upland habitats.

“I had the pleasure of selecting the winner and runner-up from the short list. Damian’s entry was a wonderfully aligned piece that showed great depth of landscape. Tony’s grouse picture had beautiful colour composition, with the purple of the heather offset perfectly by the red of the grouse.”

The #twelfie competition ran from 12th to 31st August, with over 90 submissions.
