The UK’s largest shooting organisation, The British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC) is holding a Taste of Game dinner to help raise money for the Northern Ireland Hospice.
The dinner will take place on Friday 18th November in the Barn at Larchfield Estate. The game themed menu for the evening is being prepared by well-known local chef Derek Patterson.
Individual tickets cost £50 and there will be a fundraising sporting auction and raffle on the night, the proceeds of which will be donated to the Northern Ireland Hospice.
BASC’s state of the art shooting simulator will be available for use during the event.
BASC NI director Tommy Mayne said: “This is not only a great opportunity to celebrate shooting and the sustainable harvest that shooting provides, it is a fantastic opportunity for shooters to show their appreciation for the great work done by the NI Hospice. Many of us will have benefited directly from the work of the Hospice and BASC is asking our members to contribute to this very worthy cause. In addition to the Taste of Game dinner, anyone wishing to make a cash donation can do so directly, using one of the many official NI Hospice donation buckets that we have left with firearms dealers across NI.
John Phillips of the Northern Ireland Hospice said; “We are delighted that the ‘The British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC)’ has chosen to support our charity through their fundraising events. We are making preparations for a future that includes caring for wider disease groups beyond cancer to ensure that patients with non-malignant diseases such as respiratory, dementia and neurological conditions receive the specialist care they deserve at the end of their life. We are so grateful to all our supporters that have backed us and provided invaluable support to help us rebuild a hospice that is equipped to deliver a first class service, to patients, families and the people of Northern Ireland today.”
Chairman of the NI Assembly’s All Party Group on Country Sports Patsy McGlone MLA said: “The Taste of Game dinner will no doubt be an excellent evening, serving to showcase exceptional, high-quality local produce and celebrating the contribution that shooting makes to the local economy. I am delighted that BASC has decided to use the dinner as a further opportunity to support the vital work of NI Hospice, which does so much to care for local people facing the most difficult circumstances.”
On the run up to the dinner, the simulator will be in use at various locations across NI, from the 26th October through to the 21st November. Anyone wishing to use the system will be asked to make a very small donation to the NI Hospice. Further details are available on the BASC website.
