A team of four student gamekeepers from Sparsholt College in Hampshire saw off competition from 22 other teams from 10 colleges across the UK to win the BASC annual Gamekeeping College Clay Shoot.
The day’s individual high gun was Sparsholt’s Justin Garrod with Kirstan Harpham from Newton Rigg taking the ladies high gun trophy. Top lecturer was Ben Bowen from South Staffordshire College.
The event was supported by Bushwear, Chudleys, Suzuki and Swarovski and saw teams shooting at 320 targets, with individuals facing 80 clays over a layout of different stands at Park Farm Shooting Ground near Worcester.
Alex Farrell, one of BASC’s game and gamekeeping officers, said: “It was a fantastic day and once again a pleasure to see so many student gamekeepers come together from across the country to compete on a testing clay shooting course. BASC was pleased to host the competition and to see so many people attend. A big thank you to all of those who helped make the event such a success.”
Justin Garrod, High Gun on the day and a member of the winning team, said “I had a great day representing Sparsholt College at the BASC college clay shoot. It was a great layout held by Park Farm. Great to see all the different colleges there and meeting new people. Something I think more people of my age should be doing.”
