Not invited to the Royal wedding? Why don’t you book a place at the fundraising Countryside Clay Shoot instead?
BASC will host this year’s event at the prestigious Six Mile Bottom estate in Cambridgeshire on 19th May, the same day as Prince Harry marries Meghan Markle.
Money raised will benefit the Gamekeepers’ Welfare Trust, which helps gamekeepers, stalkers and ghillies and their families in times of hardship, ill health and retirement.
The competition, sponsored by Liverpool-based solicitors Brabners, will feature 500 simulated game targets over five stands. All cartridges are included in the entry price.
The stands will simulate partridge, pheasant, grouse, snipe and decoyed woodpigeon, with 100 birds on each shot in teams of four.
There will also be a .410 pool shoot to raise additional funds for the Gamekeepers’ Welfare Trust.
The overall winning team will be presented with the Hugh van Cutsem Challenge Cup, dedicated to the memory of the keen shot and countryman.
Prize sponsors include Teague Chokes, which will multichoke the gun of choice of the longest clay competition winner and Patricia K Pritchard, who will provide members of the winning ladies’ team with a product from her luxury range. William Evans the London Gunmakers will be sponsoring the side-by-side team prize.
The winning teams in each category – overall winners, ladies team and side by side team – will share 1,000 cartridges generously donated by Eley Hawk Ltd.
Tickets cost £600 for a team of four. Breakfast on arrival and a sit down lunch are included.
