Just days left to respond to wildfowling consultation

BASC is reminding members just four days remain to have a say on proposed changes to wildfowling consenting regulations.

BASC believes that changes proposed by Natural England in its Wildfowling Guidance Review consultation will be a detrimental step for both wildfowling and conservation.

The consultation deadline is Friday (December 1st) and BASC is urging all UK wildfowling clubs and individuals to submit a response.

Paul Williamson, BASC’s rural land development manager, said: “It is vitally important that wildfowlers across the whole of the United Kingdom respond to Natural England’s consultation.

“The response BASC has submitted highlights how Natural England’s proposals, if implemented without robust challenge, will have a negative impact for wildfowling in England and could then in the future be applied across the whole of the UK.

“Importantly, BASC does provide alternative approaches to simplify wildfowling consenting so it is more proportionate to the activity.”

John Dryden, a member of BASC council and chairman of the association’s wildfowling liaison committee, said: “The traditional sport of wildfowling faces unprecedented danger. You must act now. If Natural England succeed with their unnecessary bureaucracy the art and sport of wildfowling will be consigned to the history books.”

You can have your say by filling in an online survey here by 1st December 2017.
