In his fourth year as a BASC shotgun coach, Lawrie Stewart overcame strong competition to win BASC’s Shotgun Coach of the Year award at this year’s Midland Game Fair.
Lawrie’s tireless volunteering for BASC at coaching lines, Young Shots days, live quarry days and ladies’ days has seen him educate thousands of willing and eager participants.
A real professional with a sense of humour that is infectious, his charity alone has allowed the sport of shooting to grow.
The BASC Shotgun Coach of the Year award celebrates those coaches that go over and above their duty to help our sport flourish. Nominations are public led, and this year alone BASC received dozens of first-class nominations.
Lawrie said: “I would just like to thank everyone who has made it possible for me to be awarded the honour of being crowned BASC Shotgun Coach of the Year. I love all the other coaches to bits and enjoy every moment of their company.”
BASC judge, Peter Marshall, who is the association’s head of training and education, said: “Lawrie is an inspiring coach and always brings a smile to his clients’ faces. The nominations this year were impressively strong and detailed, coming from numerous respected coaches and staff members. His ability to coach both beginners and life-long shots shows off his great integrity.”
