Does your gundog have the potential to be crowned top dog in the BASC Chudleys scurry league?
Scurries, which are timed retrieving competition for dogs, will be held at 10 game fairs during the Spring and Summer. Anyone taking first, second or third place in the scurries will win prizes on the day and league points. At the end of the season the dog and handler with the most points will be the winner and a presentation for the top four places will be held. Everyone else in the league will be entered into a draw with a chance to win prizes including dog training equipment.
The league proved popular last year – its first year – with almost 3,000 entries in the first three events alone.
BASC’s head of game and gamekeeping, Glynn Evans, said: "This is a friendly and inclusive competition open to all gundog owners. The inaugural year was a huge success and we would encourage people to come along with their dogs to enter on the day and have a go.”
The first event will be at the Westcountry Game Fair, the Royal Bath & West Showground, on 10th and 11th March, where there will be six separate scurries per day each with qualifying points for the league. Each scurry will cost £2 per entry.
