People of all ages are invited to a gamekeepers’ fair run by the UK’s largest shooting organisation, The British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC).
The fair will be held at Catton Park, Walton on Trent, Derbyshire, on 9th and 10th April 2011.
One of the main attractions of this year’s event will be a Honda ATV riding experience, where visitors will have a chance to try out Honda ATVs and be shown how to use them safely.
This year for the first time there will be a dedicated gamekeepers’ village that will include a range of specialist stalls for gamekeepers.
Central to the gamekeepers’ village will be the BASC stand, where visitors will be able to get advice and information from BASC staff and other experts including a specialist game bird vet and a bio-security consultant.
This year, also for the first time, BASC’s rural land development manager Paul Williamson will be available on the BASC stand to give advice on purchasing, leasing and managing shooting land.
A dedicated deer management village sponsored by Bushwear and Game’s On food hall, which were huge successes when they were introduced last year, are set to be even bigger and better.
More than 200 traders will show off their wares and there will be displays, demonstrations, activities and entertainment for all ages.
People can have a lesson with a BASC accredited shotgun coach and take part in stick dressing and pigeon plucking contests.
There will be craft and antiques marquees and gundog scurries sponsored by Chudleys dog food. The winners of the scurries will win prizes and qualify for the BASC Chudleys scurry league.
Clay shooting competitions will be held on both days, including a national clay shoot for gamekeepers.
Steve Bloomfield, BASC’s Midlands regional director, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming visitors to the BASC Gamekeepers’ Fair 2011. We hope everyone who comes to the event has an enjoyable time.”
The fair will be open from 9am until 5pm on both days.
