Staff from the North Wales Police firearms licensing team visited BASC’s head office near Wrexham to find out more about the association and shooting sports.
Firearms enquiry officers and administration staff from North Wales Police were shown around the BASC offices and were given presentations by staff from a number of departments.
They also tried clay shooting with BASC-accredited shotgun coaches.
BASC’s full-time firearms team deals with an average of almost 700 licensing enquiries a month from members across the UK.
Alan Booth from BASC’s firearms department said: “The visit was part of a wider programme of working with police and in particular firearms licensing departments so BASC can help them understand more about the needs of people who shoot and we in turn can understand more about their needs as administrators. The visit was very positive. We have a good working relationship with North Wales Police and this visit has strengthened and enhanced that relationship.”
Julie Foster, Head of Administration of Justice at North Wales Police, said: “Our association with BASC as a key partner in firearms licensing has always been of great importance to us. The recent opportunity afforded to our staff to spend time with BASC further enhances our endeavours to continually improve service delivery for firearms licence holders and ensure the wider policing aim of a Safer North Wales is achieved. The visit was very positive and informative.”
