BASC will be at the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society’s Spring Festival this weekend, promoting shooting and conservation.
The festival will be held at the Royal Welsh Showground, Llanelwedd, Builth Wells, Powys, on Saturday and Sunday (20th and 21st May).
Meurig Rees from BASC Wales said: “The Royal Welsh Spring Festival gives us a chance to showcase the work that we do in Wales and highlight the value of shooting in Wales. At least 76,000 people in Wales shoot and shooting influences the management of around 380,000 hectares of land in Wales. We are looking forward to meeting members and new members over the weekend.”
Visitors will have a chance to try shooting using BASC’s state-of-the-art Shooting Simulator with BASC-accredited shotgun coaches. Visitors will also be able to try air rifle shooting with BASC coaches.
The BASC stand will be situated in the Countryside Care area and will feature displays from the association’s Game and Deer Management team.
Children will have a chance to try pond-dipping with BASC’s conservation team who will also be demonstrating the Green Shoots mapping and recording website and mink and grey squirrel trapping.
There will be Taste of Game cookery demonstrations and taster sessions in the food hall.
BASC staff will be on hand throughout the event to discuss membership benefits and answer shooting related queries.
There will also be a BASC Chudleys scurry league event giving competitors a chance to win prizes on the day as well as qualifying points for the league.
