BASC release video in response to NRW ban

Following the decision by Natural Resources Wales to ban pheasant shooting on public land, BASC has produced a short social media-friendly video to highlight shooting’s value to the country.

BASC hopes the film will be shared on email and social media as part of its call to action as the association steps up a challenge to the decision taken by Natural Resources Wales.

BASC is asking members to share the film with friends and family, remembering to tag Welsh environment minister @hannahblythyn and @NatResWales on Twitter for maximum effect.

Tom O’Carroll, BASC’s video producer, said: “The video gets across the real conservation value of shooting in Wales. As we say at the end of the film, Wales is not Wales without shooting.

“It is important that we spread the message as widely as possible so even those who don’t necessarily have an affinity with shooting understand exactly what shooting does to maintain and enhance the beautiful Welsh countryside we all know and love.

“We hope that the shooting community throughout the UK will share the video on their feeds to help spread the message of the value of shooting. The ban is not just an issue for small pockets of Wales, it should be a wake-up call for shooting throughout the UK.”
