BASC photo tribute for 40th anniversary of Gamekeepers’ Fair

GK FairBASC will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Gamekeepers’ Fair this weekend by photographing what could be the UK’s biggest ever gathering of ‘keepers.

There’s sure to be no shortage of tweed when gamekeepers gather in front of Catton Hall at 2pm each day for a group shot.

Steve Bloomfield, director BASC England, said: “We have gone back to our roots with this year’s event, to make it a traditional game fair.

“This will be a celebration of gamekeeping and it would be a fitting keepsake to have a photograph of the largest ever gathering of ‘keepers. It would be nice to see these ‘keepers, whether they are full-time or part-time, wearing their tweed with pride.

“It’s often fascinating to look back in time to gain a better appreciation of history and tradition. These photographs will, in years to come, provide a snap-shot of this special anniversary event.”

BASC has teamed up with the National Gamekeepers’ Organisation (NGO) and the Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust (GWCT) to promote this year’s event, and are also working with the Gamekeepers’ Welfare Trust (GWT).

Zeiss have donated a pair of TERRA ED 10×42 binoculars worth over £400 and these will be raffled in aid of the GWT on their stand in the gamekeepers’ hospitality area.

The Gamekeepers’ Fair is open from 9am – 5pm on both Saturday and Sunday, with tickets on the gate costing £10. There is free entry for accompanied under 15s. Car parking is free and directions to the car parks will be clearly signposted.
