More than £20,000 was raised at a fundraising event organised by BASC North.
People travelled from as far afield as the British Virgin Islands to attend the event at the Inn at Whitewell in Lancashire.
Almost 200 people sat down to a meal of local produce followed by a sporting auction where shooting, fishing and more was sold to raise funds.
The funds will be split between BASC’s Young Shots scheme, a number of Young Shots-led conservation projects and a number of local cancer support charities.
Duncan Thomas, BASC North director, said: “The extremely generous shooting community supported the event both in donating auction lots and bidding enthusiastically on the night. It is important for the shooting community to evidence its positive contribution to the wider community.
“I am immensely proud of what we have built up here. My heartfelt thanks go out to all the shoots, gamekeepers and shooting-related businesses that supported the evening plus of course my team here who have worked tirelessly to deliver the event. The team at the Inn at Whitewell were, as usual, outstanding.
“We raised just over £20,000 on the night which has smashed last year’s great effort. Our Young Shots projects will now go to another level – we wish to appeal to the shooting community for ideas, especially linking conservation projects with Young Shots. This year we advertised and started some of the auction via Facebook which proved extremely effective in reaching a wider audience.

The event sold out in 36 hours and was massively oversubscribed.
