Take a Mate Shooting

With 1.6 million Britons going shooting each year and 97 per cent saying it improves their wellbeing, shooting has a huge personal value as well as a financial one.

That’s why the British Association for Shooting and Conservation has designated November as ‘Take a Mate Shooting Month’, to help encourage members to share their passion and introduce at least one other person to shooting.

Throughout the month, we will be holding a range of competitions to give enthusiasts and their ‘mate’ the chance to experience a range of shooting disciplines free of charge.

First up today, we will be offering two group clay lessons, one in Gloucestershire and one in Merseyside, on our Facebook page.

We are also offering members who take part the chance to win a Browning shotgun worth over £2,000 or BSA air rifle and ‘scope combination worth up to £1,000.

Their ‘mate’ could also win a day’s shooting with a local BASC coach – click here for more details on how to enter.

Ian Bell, BASC chief executive, said: “Shooting means so much to so many families. It was my father who first took me shooting, and I have taken my children out with me. It is a great way to spend time together, and I for one would encourage more people to try it for themselves.

“We hope launching Take a Mate Shooting month will encourage members to help us show the nation and the political parties the benefits of shooting.”
