BASC introduced 800 people to shooting at this year’s Countryfile Live event.
Using a state-of-the-art electronic shooting simulator, visitors were given a taster of clay pigeon shooting at the four-day event in the grounds of Blenheim Palace.
Dan Reynolds, BASC’s England director, said: “Countyfile Live draws a more diverse audience than the typical game fair, so it’s a fantastic opportunity to introduce shooting to people who may not ordinarily come into contact with it.
“Many of the people we spoke to about shooting were really interested in finding out more. By using the simulator we are able to go beyond just telling people about shooting by actually letting them experience it for themselves. We hope that this will provide a pathway into shooting for some of them.
“Alongside the simulator, our exhibition stand allowed visitors to find out more about UK deer species and their management as well as our wider conservation efforts.
“The game cookery demonstrations from Taste of Game showcased the very best of seasonal British game meats and were a real hit.”
