This time next week BASC will once again host the gamekeepers’ classes at Crufts.
Gamekeepers, owners of working gundogs, gundog teams and young handlers will compete in 21 classes on Gundog Day, Thursday 7 March 2019, at the NEC in Birmingham.
The top individual dogs owned by Gamekeepers will then go head to head in a final show in the main arena for the title of Best in Gamekeeping Class as well as the coveted Northesk Memorial Trophy.
The BASC gamekeepers’ classes are unique to Crufts because they give handlers the opportunity to show working gundogs in their prime.
Kate Dymock, BASC’s Gundog officer, said: “Being the biggest dog show in the world, Crufts is a unique stage on which to proudly display working gundogs to the general public.
Crufts also provides a perfect opportunity to learn more about the diverse range of gundog breeds out there”
Eoghan Cameron, BASC vice chairman, said: “Gundogs are indispensable in all forms of game shooting. Behind every well-trained gundog lies a wealth of human knowledge, skill and energy.
“Far more than just tools of the trade, they are our faithful companions in the field.
There can be no better forum than Crufts to showcase the very best of British working gundogs and the level of excellence to which we can all aspire.
The gamekeepers’ classes will be held in rings 25, 26 and 35 in Hall 5 at the NEC.
