BASC has strongly condemned the dumping of pheasants shown in a video released today.
The Times newspaper has reported that the footage appears to show hundreds of ‘breasted’ pheasants – birds which have had the prime breast meat removed for consumption – being tipped into a pit on top of the bodies of other birds.
Steve Bloomfield, BASC’s executive director of operations, said: “It is unacceptable for birds to be disposed of in this manner. The person involved is not a member of BASC.
“BASC has referred the footage to the local authority so that they can investigate the circumstances and take legal action if required.
“BASC will also be reporting the shoot to the British Game Alliance for disciplinary action.”
