BASC has called on shooting businesses to apply for grants from the £24 million being made available in England this summer through the Defra Growth Programme announced today.
The grants – worth upwards of £35,000 – are being offered through nine Local Enterprise Partnerships which each have priorities for the rural economy in their area. Among the areas which have been earmarked for grants are food processing, business development and tourism.
Richard Ali, Chief Executive of BASC said: “This is an excellent opportunity for those involved in shooting to secure funding to expand their contribution to the rural economy. Businesses processing game, landowners diversifying into shooting and those promoting commercial shooting could all benefit. Shooting already contributes £2 billion to the rural economy. These grants could help that figure grow.”

Applicants should ensure that they address local priorities to increase their chances of being successful.
