BASC calls new Welsh general licences irresponsible on Farming Today

BASC Wales director Steve Griffiths featured on this morning’s (27th September) Farming Today programme to discuss the new Welsh general licences issued by Natural Resources Wales (NRW).

You can listen to the interview from 4.57mins here.

In the interview Steve criticised the new conditions, for example the decision to remove the rook from all the Welsh general licences. He also raised the serious concerns regarding the lack of resources given by NRW into publicising the changes, stating the rural community may accidently break the law as they remain unaware of the new licences.

Steve welcomed next year’s review and made it clear that BASC will play a full role in helping NRW shape the next set of licences to ensure that they are fit for purpose.
