The BASC Gamekeepers’ Fair and the Kelmarsh Game and Country Fair, run by Countryman Fairs, are to join forces next year to create one outstanding event.
Both events have traditionally taken place in April just an hour’s journey apart, so now visitors can enjoy one event over Easter weekend at the Kelmarsh Estate in Northampton.
BASC will deliver “The BASC village”, which will incorporate all departments and demonstrations which previously took place at the Gamekeepers’ Fair, along with clay shooting instruction, competitions and air rifle coaching.
Steve Bloomfield, BASC director England and Gamekeepers’ Fair organiser, said: “It makes perfect sense that our two organisations come together to create one exceptional country sports focussed event.
“BASC is the biggest shooting organisation in the UK and Countryman Fairs are experts in delivering high class outdoor events over many years. This is very exciting news for both exhibitors and visitors alike.”
Ian Harford, Countryman Fairs chief executive, said: “We have worked closely with the BASC for over 30 years and are incredibly excited by this new partnership. Centrally located with great road access, Kelmarsh is the perfect location for a national showpiece event to kick off the game fair season. With many of the leading shooting brands already confirmed, the Kelmarsh Game and Country Fair will be a must visit event for all fieldsports enthusiasts.”
John Thornley, vice-chairman of BASC council, said: “By joining forces with Countryman Fairs we can now offer a bigger event which is sure to attract even more visitors. The BASC village will allow us to showcase what we are all about as an organisation.”
The event will take place on the 16/17 April 2017.
