BASC and Booths boost game campaign

 

Shoppers at independent supermarket chain Booths will get some inspiration to cook game dishes when 25,000 recipe leaflets are made available as part of a game promotion campaign run by the UK’s largest shooting organisation, the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC).

The leaflets will be available to customers at Booths stores between 6th and 20th November as part of BASC’s National Taste of Game Fortnight.

They feature recipes for venison ragu with fresh tagliatelle, potted venison, pigeon and peas with cider, rabbit lasagne, pheasant curry and confit duck legs.

National Taste of Game Fortnight forms part of BASC’s ongoing Game’s On game promotion campaign and is aimed at encouraging people to enjoy eating game.

BASC’s director of operations, Simon Hamlyn, said: “Game meat is great.  It is delicious, nutritious, wild, versatile and can be locally sourced.  We know that by joining forces with Booths, we will encourage even more people to enjoy eating game. The tasty recipes in the leaflets will provide some inspiration.”

Booths has stores in Lancashire, Cumbria, Yorkshire and Cheshire. The leaflet promotion is being supported by Cumbria-based game dealers Furness Fish, Poultry and Game Supplies.
